Just 10 months after releasing her debut album, Ariana Grande has revealed details of the first single from her second album.
The pint-sized singer will perform “Problem” for the first time at the Radio Disney Music Awards on April 26 and will then be released on iTunes at midnight just a few hours later.
“Problem” is rumoured to be produced by Zedd (“Stay The Night“, “G.U.Y“) and Idolator reported that it could feature Iggy Azalea after the pair exchanged mysterious tweets hinting at a potential collaboration. If either of these rumours are true then the song will definitely be a departure from the bluesy R&B sound we heard on Ariana’s debut.
There are no questions when it comes to the singer’s talent as she has been hailed as “The New Mariah” upon the release of “Yours Truly” last summer. However, there was a disconnect between the music and her image that Ariana herself acknowledged – admitting the pressure of working with Nickelodeon prevented her from being herself.
Although, the 20-year-old has ditched her preppy girl-next-door look in an attempt to separate herself from her squeaky-clean persona ahead of her sophomore release and has been in the studio with industry giants such as Ryan Tedder.
Her manager Scooter Braun shared his excitement about the new era with fans. “Miss @arianagrande is coming with the new album and coming strong. New look and big records,” he tweeted. “This album is about to slap u in the face! Amazing.”
“Problem” will be released on April 27.
