Cheryl Cole Confirms Return To The X Factor

After years of “when will she go back?”, the inevitable has happened: Cheryl Cole is returning to The X Factor this year.

The singer confirmed the rumours via her Instagram account, uploading an old picture of her and Simon Cowell captioned “GUESS WHAT!!.. I’m baaaacccckkkkk!!!!”.

The ex-Girls Aloud member cemented her status as a national treasure with her role as a judge on the UK talent show when she joined back in 2008 and used the platform to promote her two debut solo albums, which both hit #1 as a result of her popularity. The singer later parted ways with the show after a transfer to the US version of the show resulted in Cowell embarrassingly replacing her after two weeks into production.

Since then Cheryl nabbed her third #1 single, released her third solo album and briefly reunited with Girls Aloud for the group’s 10-year anniversary whilst the show’s ratings dramatically declined with annual line-up changes failing to keep viewers interested.

However, Cheryl has now signed a £1.5 million deal to return for its eleventh series this autumn alongside Cowell. The rest of the line-up is yet to be revealed but critics and fans already seem to be thrilled at the news of the singer’s return. The 30-year-old is also set to release her fourth solo album this year, so this return makes perfect sense for her.

Personally, we stopped watching the show soon after Cheryl’s departure but not only for that reason – we feel the entire show would benefit from a revamp. Although, this is sure to encourage some former viewers like myself to tune in.

What do you think? Will Cheryl make you watch the show again?
