Rihanna has taken a break from Instagram and returned to the studio to work on her eighth studio album.
Whilst it doesn’t really seem like she took a break – she is featured on Shakira‘s brand new single “Can’t Remember To Forget You” and only finished her world tour 3 months ago – this is the longest time that Rihanna has went without releasing a new album in 5 years. She released seven albums in just as many years, and last November was the first in 5 years not to be graced with new material.
Therefore, it’s safe to say that the 25-year-old’s fans went into overdrive when she was spotted in the studio last month after her full-time bestie Melissa Forde posted a photo of the two on Instagram – and it wasn’t just a one-off. The singer has been in the studio with several producers over the last few weeks, including Kuk Harrell – co-writer of “Umbrella” and producer of “What’s My Name“.
After being harassed for information by the singer’s fans on Instagram, Harrell stated that the singer’s new material is “next level”. It was revealed in December that Rihanna had recruited producers and songwriters that worked on her 2010 LP “Loud“, suggesting that her next album may be more upbeat than 2012’s moody R&B affair, “Unapologetic“.
Rihanna never fails to deliver with her music and we cannot wait to see what she brings to the table this time around. Especially after seeing she’s been hanging out with Drake again because we would love to hear another collab from the duo.
