Jennifer Lopez has dropped a hot new song (note: not single) to tease fans and it is everything we’ve been wanting from the former Queen of Latina-flavoured R&B/Hip-Hop.
The ‘Play‘ singer croons over DJ Mustard‘s breezy club-ready production on ‘Girls‘ with her breathy vocals. This is the type of song that J-Lo has needed for a long time; she’s returning to the sexy R&B sound but the fresh production prevents it from seeming repetitive, and (best of all) it’s one giant step away from the string of annoying Pitbull-assisted EDM singles.
As you may recall, we were worried about the singer’s new music when she teased a new song called ‘Same Girl‘ a few weeks ago. The lacklustre song – written by Chris Brown, of course – wasn’t even worthy of a review it was so poor (luckily, its release has been scrapped) but ‘Girls‘ has redeemed all of my beliefs in her.
‘Girls‘ is being promoted as a buzz single as Lopez is still in the studio finishing work on her eighth studio album, due out later this year. The mum-of-two has returned as a judge to American Idol for its thirteenth season, which means we will more than likely have the official lead single by the end of season (April-May).
