Just as we were beginning to question the lack of pop anthems from Katy Perry this year, the pop princess has released the best dance song of her career so far.
Earlier today, the 28-year-old made ‘Walking On Air‘ available on iTunes – 3 weeks before its housing album ‘Prism‘ is released – and it is heading straight to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 already. The dance track must be a single after the confirmed second single ‘Unconditionally‘, and here’s why…
Co-created with Swedish pop producer Klas Ahlund, ‘Walking On Air‘ is a pulsating, pop-infused house song taken straight from the 90s. The huge pop song nods towards the unapologetically massive dance anthems of that decade, such as Livin’ Joy‘s ‘Dreamer‘ or Love Inc.‘s ‘You’re A Superstar‘.
Now, Katy Perry may not be the strongest live singer or the best dancer but when she produces flaw-free songs like this it’s hard to deny she is a force to be reckoned with.
It’ll be interesting to see which pop star comes out on top this winter as Perry releases ‘Prism‘ around the same time as Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears all release brand new albums.
‘Prism‘ will be released in the UK on October 21.
