As the release of her new album ‘Bangerz‘ approaches quickly, Miley Cyrus has previewed her brand new material.
The tongue-wagging superstar has dropped 30-second-long snippets of every new song on the standard edition of the album. The 13 songs include the lead single ‘We Can’t Stop‘, her US #1 single ‘Wrecking Ball‘ and her highly-anticipated collaboration with, the one and only, Britney Spears.
Miley certainly hasn’t been shy when it comes to boasting about her new material as she named the LP ‘Bangerz‘ because, well (of course), “every song is a banger”. The 20-year-old star most recently told Rolling Stone that she wants the album to become a “classic” like Michael Jackson‘s ‘Bad‘.
Cyrus may have turned urban in recent months but her Southern twang is still audible throughout the new material, and there’s a 50/50 balance of singing and speaking.
There are many standout tracks from the previews, like the cooky Pharrell-produced ‘4×4‘ – which could be the more mature version of the ‘Hoedown Throwdown‘ – and the in-your-face pop song ‘SMS (Bangerz)‘ that houses the already-iconic line “Where Mike Will at?“. Although we cannot hear her voice on the snippet of ‘SMS‘, Britney’s influence is prominent in Miley’s bratty, rapid-paced verse.
Other highlights include the dance-infused ‘Do My Thang‘, ‘Drive‘ and the Future-assisted love song ‘My Darlin’‘. However, the album hits a bizarre standstill with ‘FU‘, which sounds like a Western version of Chicago‘s ‘Cell Block Tango‘.
‘Bangerz‘ is out October 7 (UK) and is available to pre-order now. (iTunes)
