The one-and-only “punk-pop princess”, 28-year-old Avril Lavigne has debuted her new single online, ‘Rock N Roll‘.
‘Rock N Roll‘ will serve as the second single from Lavigne’s forthcoming fifth album, which is set to be released in September. The track is produced by Max Martin, who is probably best known for his work with Britney Spears (‘3‘, ‘…Baby One More Time‘, ‘Till The World Ends‘) and co-written by Lavigne, her husband Chad Kroeger, Richard Goransson, David Hodges, Jacob Hindlin and Peter Svensson.
The lead single ‘Here’s To Never Growing Up‘ hasn’t charted as high as one would hope, peaking at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since its release in April. The first single still has not been released in the UK, as plenty of US artists seem to release it here last, which – if you ask me – is just asking for people to download the music illegally.
Avril recently hinted that she could release her sixth album back-to-back with her upcoming fifth album due to the number of songs that she has recorded for the album. “I kinda wanna do the back-to-back records because I’ve worked so hard on writing a ton of songs [for this record] and I just wanna make it perfect.”
Anyway – back to the song – the song isn’t an Avril classic, nor is it an amazing pop song, but it is a slight improvement from the lifeless ‘Never Growing Up‘. Check out ‘Rock N Roll‘, below..
