American Idol judge Mariah Carey has marked the beginning of a new era as she released the official lead single from her upcoming 14th album, ‘Beautiful‘.
The 43-year-old diva has enlisted the help of fellow Grammy Award winner Miguel for her “comeback” single, after shelving last year’s lacklustre single ‘Triumphant‘.
Stylised as ‘#Beautiful‘, the R&B track is made for the radio and lets listeners hear an effortless – and seemingly more comfortable – Mariah, once again. Her voice sounds the strongest it has on record in years, perhaps as the singer is comfortable revisiting her former staple sound of laid-back R&B as opposed to the noise of urban-pop.
Within hearing the first 15 seconds it was clear that Mariah wanted a Miguel-sounding song as ‘#Beautiful‘ could fit perfectly on the singer-songwriter’s most recent album ‘Kaleidoscope Dream‘, but it works. Listen to the future hit, below!
‘#Beautiful‘ is available on iTunes now, and its music video – directed by Joseph Kahn – will premiere on American Idol this Wednesday on FOX.
