Former X Factor USA judge (we’ll get to that later) Britney Spears has confirmed that she and fiancé Jason Trawick have separated and have called off their year-long engagement.
“Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement. two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends.”
Britney has released a short announcement commenting on the pair’s amicable split to to People, stating: “Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I’ll always adore him and we will remain great friends.” In addition to Britney’s statement Jason has also commented on the matter, saying: “As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever.”
Following the pair’s announcements, it’s confirmed that Britney and Jason simply “grew apart” and have been waiting for Jason to be removed as Britney’s co-conservator before officially announcing the split. It’s sad that it hasn’t worked out for Britney and Jason as they seemed great for each other, but Britney shouldn’t waste her third time lucky down the aisle if the shoe doesn’t seem to fit.
So, now that Ms. Spears is in fact single it’s no wonder that she’s been so involved in making her eighth studio album – and after weeks of speculation, Britney also released a statement confirming that she will not be returning to X Factor USA for a second season.

“I’ve made the very difficult decision not to return for another season. I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it’s time for me to get back in the studio. Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can’t wait to get back out there and do what I love most.”
The above is Britney’s official statement regarding her question return to the X Factor judging panel, and it seems that with fellow judge L.A Reid gone the Gimme More singer is dedicated to her music right now.
It’s been a busy week for Ms. Spears, as besides confirming two life-changing decisions, she has signed a deal with CAA (Creative Artist Agency) for future touring plans fuelling rumours that plans are already underway for Britney’s next world tour that will accompany her debut release under RCA records.
Now, as Britney is officially single; planning her next touring venture; recording with the likes of Danja and Darkchild it is safe to say we are feeling positive about her career this year. I feel like she’s focused on her music again and wants to give it 110% this time (hopefully, anyway) as opposed to the “simply doing it for fun” route she opted for with Femme Fatale.
Although, let’s be serious for one moment: isn’t it time that Britney’s independence and liberty wasn’t restrained under a conservatorship? 2013 marks 6 years since it was placed and it should not continue any longer. Of course I will love the music and go to the tour regardless of whether she’s under constraint or not, but I hope for her sake that the conservatorship is let go of this year and she can get her freedom back.
