Alicia Keys Explains Why The Beyoncé Duet Was Never Released

The 2010 collaboration between Alicia Keys and Beyoncé was perhaps one of the most highly-anticipated duets of recent music history – and her career – yet was also one which failed to see the light of day.

The two superstars filmed a music video for “Put It In A Love Song” back in February 2010 and when pictures from the video surfaced fans and critics alike were sent into a frenzy waiting for its arrival, but now over 2 years later Keys’ has finally given an explanation in an interview with Essence.

Essence: Fans have been dying to know what ever happen to the “Put It In a Love Song” video you shot with Beyoncé?
Keys: Ohhh man! Y’all aren’t going to leave me alone about that! Sometimes with creative things [it] all comes together and it’s (makes perfection kissing noise) and sometimes things almost come together and it’s better to just leave it. So we love that song. We had a ball shooting the video. It just so happens that the whole thing, for some reason or another, didn’t quite come together so we just decided to leave it. And that’s what happened.

Interesting. I still think it remains unreleased because Beyoncé undoubtedly outshone Ms. Keys throughout the video, but that’s just my personal stance on the matter.
